Tawa ice cream is another name for fried ice cream or ice cream rolls. This name is very popular in Gujarat and Maharashtra. The demand of this delicious and healthy dessert is increasing day by day. The process of tawa ice cream is the same as that of ice cream rolls except the tawa thing. The whole procedure is totally depend on the using of quality ingredients and making tawa ice cream base. Each ingredient used in the ice-cream has an important role and adds a unique flavor into it.
The process of making tawa ice cream is divided into two steps:
1) Ingredients:
- 1 litre milk (if you are trying it first time).
- 2 table-spoon sugar.
- Chocolate syrup or any desired flavor. This syrup can be used as dessert sauce or you mix it with base cream while making ice-cream. It gives a light Choco taste.
- Crushed dry fruits like almonds, cashew and raisins.
- Vanilla essence (extracted from vanilla beans) is used as flavor.
- Arrowroot (arrarot) powder is used as a thicker in recipes.
- Sago (Sabudana) is used as a healthy alternative.
- Pick the type of flavor you want to make like banana, Oreo, kiwi, kitkat or brownie etc.
2) Procedure:
- Tawa ice cream machine includes a tawa which is fitted on the machine. Tawa lowers the temperature and helps in freezing the content put on it.
- The machine is switched on and after five minutes, a thin layer of ice is formed at the surface of tawa. We produce the ice cream which is spreaded in a generous portion on the tawa.
- After that, a layer of fruit pulp is placed and mixed into the ice-cream base.
- When this mixture becomes crisp cold, it is scrapped into rolls and served with some delicious garnishing.
- There are a number of varieties present of this dessert. For example:- Oreo, black forest, mix-fruits, chocolate, choco chips, kitkat and many others.
